When a life insurance agency expands its mission to offer clients financial planning, an image upgrade is a smart simultaneous move. That's what Northwestern Mutual Financial Network (formerly Northwestern Mutual Life) sought for its new offices in the Chicago suburb of Schaumburg, Illinois.

"We wanted to create an atmosphere that said we were the preeminent financial services firm in this area," says Scott Carr, president of the Schaumburg office. "We wanted to be traditional in an updated, and very classy way."
